On Sunday, Gazzetta dello Sport reported Manchester United are expected to agree a deal with Inter Milan for André Onana between Tuesday and Wednesday.
Monday’s Corriere dello Sport backs it up as they state this deal is likely to be concluded in the ‘next few days’.
It’s claimed Erik ten Hag wants the 27-year-old ‘at all costs’ and the Serie A side are waiting for an improved effort from Manchester United.
The report states it would be surprising if the Premier League side were to not take this step, especially after David de Gea’s exit from Old Trafford.
Manchester United have informally offered €50m including bonuses for the goalkeeper, and that hasn’t pleased the Nerazzurri. Corriere say the latter are ready to accept a bid of €50m fixed fee plus bonuses [part of which are easily achievable] to sanction Onana’s sale.
Onana currently earns €3.5m per season and the newspaper says Manchester United have offered him an annual salary of €6m, which is €1m short of his demand.
The two parties should further continue negotiations today to reach an agreement over personal terms. Once it’s sorted, the report states Manchester United will table an improved bid to sign Onana.
Should there be no agreement between the two clubs before Wednesday, Onana will start pre-season training with Inter from Thursday.
