In the past few weeks, Liverpool have been spoken of as a potential destination for Benfica’s Orkun Kökçü.
The Turkish midfielder has impressed at the Portuguese club this season, after a difficult first campaign, and did the same at Feyenoord, where he was operating under current Reds boss Arne Slot.
He was also the Dutch club’s captain at that time, which shows how much the Liverpool boss rates him.
The player’s father has already expressed openness about the move to Anfield.
Portuguese newspaper Record note that the Reds’ interest in Kökçü is growing and they have scouted him for two games in a row.
Scouts from the club were present in the stands during Benfica’s Champions League game against Feyenoord. They also watched the midfielder impress against Rio Ave at the weekend.
They gathered more information about Kökçü during the game and there is rising interest from other clubs as well.
As we’ve mentioned before, this may all be an attempt to revalue Kökçü. He’s played well recently, but he first Benfica season wasn’t great and saw his star drop somewhat.
