On Tuesday, we covered claims from Brazil that Liverpool have made contact over a deal for André Trindade. It was also stated Fluminense want to retain their star until the end of this year.
The Reds are looking to add at least one more midfielder to their squad after allowing both Jordan Henderson and Fabinho to move to Saudi Arabia.
UOL say Liverpool’s preference is to still to sign Southampton’s Roméo Lavia while André is seen as a Plan B, or, more likely, an additional target.
Jürgen Klopp’s side could ‘count on the help’ of super-agent Jorge Mendes to bring the Brazil international to Anfield. UOL state Fluminense are ready to accept a fee between €25-30m, provided the midfielder leaves at the start of 2024.
According to AS, Liverpool see 22-year-old as the ‘natural replacement’ for Fabinho and have made first contact with Fluminense.
AS explain that the ‘operation has taken a 180º turn’ as there’s been a radical change in the situation. It’s claimed Fluminense would need a ‘much larger amount’, between €30m and €40m including bonuses, to let go of the player this summer.
The report states that Liverpool, for their part, would like to close the deal for André ‘in record time’ so that he’s at Klopp’s disposal as soon as possible.
For now, the two clubs have made contact and AS make it clear that ‘nothing is closed yet’ for André’s transfer to Anfield.
