On Monday, Het Laatste Nieuws reported Liverpool have initiated contact over a potential deal for KRC Genk’s ‘golden boy’ Bilal El Khannouss.
Claims elsewhere have stated Atlético Madrid are preparing a five-year deal for the 19-year-old. This is relayed by another Belgian newspaper, Het Belang van Limburg, who provide the latest on this case.
The La Liga side, Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen are all showing interest in the young star.
The Morocco international is represented by his mother and it’s said she has been ‘invited’ by several clubs, including the Reds and the Bundesliga side.
The Belgian club haven’t yet received any approach or offer for the attacking midfielder. HBVL add Genk have indicated, likely to the player’s entourage, that they ‘want to participate’ in his sale, but only after this season.
The Jupiler Pro League side want El Khannouss to be their record sale, surpassing the €25m fee they collected from Sander Berge’s move to Sheffield United in 2020.
HBVL make no mention of Genk’s exact demands and this information is provided by De Morgen.
They also state Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen are interested in the Moroccan, and claim Genk are aiming to collect €30m from his sale.
