Barcelona youngster Gavi made his first team debut last August and has been a regular for them this season, making 34 appearances in all competitions.
The 17-year-old’s emergence at the Camp Nou and a current deal expiring in 2023 has alerted several clubs across Europe, including Liverpool.
On February 7th, Mundo Deportivo explained the La Liga side will try everything to keep the midfielder away from the Reds. Later that month, the same newspaper reported the Merseyside club are in the picture to sign the youngster after this season.
Xavi Hernández’s side are working to tie down the player’s long-term future and despite other claims suggesting Gavi is close to signing a new deal, sources from the Catalan club now insist the negotiations are stalled.
The teenager, for his part, ‘does not consider anything’ other than renewing at Barca, even though ‘many clubs are waiting for him’.
One among them is Jürgen Klopp’s side as the report adds Liverpool, Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain ‘have been interested in his case’.
Gavi has a release clause of €50m in his current deal and it’s valid only until June 30th. After that, the price tag will be doubled to €100m, when he will have less than a year left on his contract.
