Liverpool youngster Taiwo Awoniyi is all set to join NEC on loan for the season in order to get first team experience. NEC are currently experiencing financial difficulties, which has seen their main forward Christian Santos leave the club, along with Leeds United linked Anthony Limbombe.
Voetbal Primeur have revealed the Liverpool forward is currently in Holland, and will undergo a medical today after an agreement was made between the two clubs.
Awoniyi was present at NEC’s game yesterday as the Dutch side took on Go Ahead Eagles, and the 18 year should be available for selection for next weekend. The young forward was purchased for over a €1m in 2015, and last season was sent out on loan to German side Frankfurt.
NEC this summer have released a number of players due to finances, and recently their prized asset Anthony Limbombe left for Club Brugge despite the interest from Leeds United.
The Championship club had been tracing the 22-year-old for 12 months, but his desire to move back to his home country resulted in Leeds United missing out on the player.
There departures have led to NEC bringing in replacements on the cheap, and also on loan like with Awoniyi.
