Brazilian midfielder Lucas Leiva was set to leave Liverpool for Galatasaray, but Jurgen Klopp wasn’t ready to part ways with the player yet as he wants him to provide cover for injured players.

Reports in the Liverpool media suggest Klopp wants to wait until the end of the transfer window before sanctioning a sale for Lucas.

The Reds have plenty of options in midfield after the recent capture of Georginio Wijnaldum, but Klopp feels Lucas can also provide back up to his defenders.

It’s a difficult to say if Galatasaray will come back for Lucas, but reports in Italy suggest another club could be interested in the Brazilian star.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter Milan are interested in signing Lucas Leiva.

Inter boss Frank de Boer met the club’s Chinese owners yesterday to discuss their transfer plans. Gazzetta say De Boer wants an extra midfielder, and Inter could turn their attention towards Lucas.

There’s no mention of any bids yet, but Inter could be tempted to make an offer for the Brazilian considering he isn’t expected to cost much.
