Elia Caprile swapped Leeds United for SSC Bari in the summer, moving on a permanent transfer.
The Whites took the 21-year-old from Chievo Verona in 2020 and added him to their U21 squad.
Leeds sanctioned a loan to Pro Patria last season to help with development, and that was followed by his permanent switch to Bari.
Caprile failed to make an appearance for Leeds United’s first team during his time in England. His situation at Bari has been different, and he’s first-choice for the Serie B side.
The goalkeeper has made 15 appearances this season, conceding 16 goals and keeping four clean sheets in the process.
Former Bari midfielder Antonio Di Gennaio is of the belief Caprile’s spell at Leeds has played a big role in his form for his current employer.
“Usually, goalkeepers are a guarantee from the age of 25 onwards. He is already safe now, despite being in his first season in Serie B. I think the experience in England with the Leeds youth team has greatly matured him. And I see a limitless future for him,” Di Gennaio told La Repubblica, relayed by Tutto Bari.
Leeds United allowed Caprile to move for a cut-price fee in the summer. A condition of that is they receive around 50% of the funds from a future transfer, something which is already appearing on the horizon.
