Yesterday, a story came out that Huddersfield Town had tried to sign Ryad Boudebouz from Real Betis, only for the club to then pull out at the last minute to focus on ‘other avenues’.
This might have been the result of their managerial change, having sacked David Wagner and replaced him by 36-year-old Jan Siewert, and one of those so called ‘avenues’ has potentially been revealed.
According to Foot Mercato’s Dahbia Hattabi, Huddersfield made an attempt to sign Bordeaux’s Nicolas de Préville, whose exit has been talked about a fair bit in France, but it won’t be happening.
Despite having multiple clubs from abroad interested in him, including the Premier League side, the versatile forward, who can play on the wing or through the middle, will not be leaving the Ligue 1 side in January.
Once a rather prolific goalscorer at Lille, the 28-year-old has found life a bit tougher in the south of France, scoring just two goals in 21 appearances this season, as well as assisting teammates once.
