Earlier today, we relayed news from Italy that Cagliari’s Nahitan Nández ‘approaches’ Leeds United and the Premier League side could accelerate their efforts to sign the midfielder in the coming days.
There seems to be fresh developments on this case if a report from Saturday’s edition of Corriere dello Sport is to be believed.
The newspaper’s title reads ‘Cagliari sells Nández to Leeds’, and within the report it’s stated the 25-year-old is ‘very close’ to joining the Whites.
It’s claimed his ‘farewell’ from Cagliari is ‘increasingly likely’ and ‘only a few details would be missing’ for Nández to seal a switch to Elland Road.
The Uruguay international is currently at the Copa América and his performances for the Serie A side last season caught the attention of Inter Milan and Fiorentina.
The Nerazzurri, however, never made a concrete offer, while La Viola only watched him closely, without taking further steps.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side have now taken the lead and Corriere dello Sport say there are ‘very close’ to securing the South American’s services.
