Leeds United are still in the race for Sporting Club de Portugal’s Manuel Ugarte and have been ‘keeping an eye on his development’.
That’s according to Record, who say the Whites are among several Premier League suitors for the player this summer.
Ugarte has been impressing for Sporting this season, establishing himself as a key player and impressing both in the league and in their European fixtures.
That’s led to speculation he could be set for a big move at the end of the season, with Sporting already accepting that fact.
They know that Ugarte ‘has a market’ and that, despite being protected by a €60m release clause in his contract, there are clubs who have ‘coveted’ his signature.
Leeds are one of them, although they could face competition from the likes of Newcastle and Tottenham, while there is also interest in Spain.
They’ve all been watching his development this season and are ready to make a move, although Leeds doing so would be dependent on them staying in the Premier League first.
