Leeds United’s search for a new manager is ongoing, more than a week after they sacked Jesse Marsch.
The Whites have seen Rayo Vallecano boss Andoni Iraola and Feyenoord coach Arne Slot turn them down, while Andrea Radrizzani and Victor Orta had a disagreement over appointing Alfred Schreuder.
Gerardo Martino has emerged as a candidate for Leeds if TNT Sports in Argentina is to be believed.
The 60-year-old managed Mexico at the World Cup, where they failed to get out of the group stages. This saw the former Barcelona manager step down from his position. He is currently without a job but has received offers to return to the bench.
Martino has aroused interest from the Premier League side and journalist Matías Bustos Milla told TNT Sports Leeds have already made contact with the Argentine.
His intention would be to lead a team from the start of next season, when he would have time to build his team and work with the players. TNT Sports state the coach has ‘not yet ruled out the offer’, which is likely to have been made by the Whites.
Leeds would face competition from Valencia as they have also shown interest in Martino.
