Leeds United and Sevilla are in the picture to sign Barcelona youngster Ilias Akhomach in the summer.
The 18-year-old has spent most of his youth career at the Catalan club’s academy and made his senior debut in Xavi Hernández’s first game in charge November 2021. He’s made three appearances for them so far.
Akhomach has a contract expiring in June and his situation has caught the attention of Leeds and Sevilla.
Radio Sevilla, relayed by El Desmarque, explain the Whites and the Andalusian club have sounded out the winger in recent months and they have ‘returned to the fore’ for him.
Sevilla sporting director Monchi is hoping to convince the teenager to pick his side over the Premier League club. The latter’s pursuit of the Spain U19 international is led by their chief, Victor Orta.
It’s claimed Leeds are ‘very aware’ of the developments taking place around Akhomach at Barcelona. He has already rejected the renewal offer proposed to him by the La Liga side.
A failure from Barca to tie down Akhomach to a new contract will allow Leeds, Sevilla and others to sign him for free in the summer.
