PSV Eindhoven ‘tried to snap up’ Ladislav Krejci from Wolverhampton Wanderers at the end of the Dutch window but were ‘rebuffed’.
Journalist Rik Elfrink reports that PSV made an attempt for the 27-year-old but found Wolves unwilling to do a deal.
He corroborates information from England, which had reported a late bid for the defender from PSV this week. He then adds some contact to those reports.
PSV effort
The journalist states that Ladislav Krejci’s name has been circulating at PSV since mid-August. The Dutch club were keen on him as he can play as a central defender and a number six in midfield.
The fact his name had been circulating since mid-August is interesting given reports that Sport Witness covered at that time. For example, this report on the 19th stated that Krejci very much wanted to leave Molineux this summer.
That followed reports insisting that Ladislav Krejci was the focus of transfer talks and would be leaving Wolves at some point if they went well.
If Elfrink is to be believed, PSV were also in the mix at that point. Or, at the very least, they were considering a move for the 27-year-old. But that move ultimately didn’t come until the end of the window.
And at that point, it appears Wolves decided he wasn’t for sale and rebuffed their advances.
Championship for now
That leaves Ladislav Krejci playing in the Championship until January, unless one of the remaining handful of countries whose transfer window is still open step forward.
Saudi Arabia remains an option, for example. Whether the defender would want that move is up for debate. He was clearly open to leaving Wolves this summer but ultimately didn’t get the move he was looking for.
Now they will be hoping he can get over that disappointment and play a key role in getting them out of the Championship at the first time of asking.
