Sadio Mané ended his six-year spell at Liverpool and made a switch to Bayern Munich in the summer.
The Reds have endured a difficult start to the campaign, managing to win three of their eight matches. Two of those wins were down to the late goals from Fábio Carvalho and Joel Matip against Newcastle United and Ajax respectively.
Bayern manager Julian Nagelsmann is of the belief Mané’s exit is partly to be blamed for Liverpool’s slow start to the season.
Jürgen Klopp, on the other hand, feels otherwise. The Merseyside club coach made this claim during an interview with Norway’s TV2.
When asked how difficult it was for the Reds to build an attack without the Senegal international, he said: “Sadio is a world class player. It was always clear that we were going to miss him. But this is not our problem now. Unfortunately, we also played bad games with Sadio. Not ‘so’ bad, but bad,” he said.
Following Mané’s exit, the former Borussia Dortmund boss has admitted he understands the feelings of supporters and has sent a message to them.
“I especially understand that the Liverpool fans want to discuss it, want solutions and things like that. But trust me, we have worked on solutions, and now we have the opportunity to show that we have understood it, and that we will react,” Klopp explained.
Liverpool added Darwin Núñez to their squad in the summer, after losing both Mané and Divock Origi at the end of last season.
