Even with a few days passing, there is still a lot of talk about Jürgen Klopp’s behaviour following Liverpool’s 4-3 loss in the FA Cup quarter final.
The Reds manager was being interviewed by a Viaplay journalist, who asked a question that didn’t sit well with the German, causing him to storm off midway through.
The clip went viral, and has been commented on many times, including by Aftenposten in Norway, who lays into the Liverpool boss.
He starts off by saying that Sunday was the ‘clearest example’ of Klopp being a ‘sore loser’ who can ‘be nasty when things go wrong’.
While there is some sympathy for the Liverpool manager throughout the article, especially when it comes to the amount of interviews they have to do and the timing of these, such as straight after a very emotional game, composure must be held.
He says that ‘some hide it better than others’, but overall, ‘all top coaches are sore losers’, recalling the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson boycotting the BBC in the past.
However, this time, ‘the behaviour was embarrassing and completely unnecessary’, going as far as ‘kicking downwards’ at a man who was just doing his job.
Klopp may have brought success to Liverpool over these last nine years, and among his great qualities, this is one ‘he should do a better job of curbing’.
As pointed out by the writer, Røed-Johansen, this is something he will ‘have time to think about in the summer’, having decided to leave the Anfield side.
