According to a claim in the Turkish media, Fenerbahce are showing interest in Manchester United forward Rasmus Højlund.
The Dane has endured a difficult season for the Premier League side, which has led to speculation he could be offloaded in the summer.
Sozcu report Fenerbahce are the latest club keen on Højlund. There’s been reports he could return to Serie A, which may be preferable but it looks like there’s a Turkish opportunity.
Fener will be in the market for a new No.9 in the summer with Edin Džeko’s contract expiring at the end of the season. Cenk Tosun and Youssef En-Nesyri could also leave.
Subsequently, Jose Mourinho wants to sign at least two top class centre forwards and Højlund is said to be an option. It’s claimed the Super Lig side want to loan the Denmark international, with an option to purchase.
However, these claims seem ambitious, even for a club the size of Fenerbahce. It’s unlikely they would be able to compete with Italian sides in the race to sign the Manchester United player and a return to Serie A looks more of a possibility.
In addition, a loan move doesn’t seem like a great deal for Manchester United, who need to bring a striker in themselves. Sozcu report the loan plus option will be the ‘first offer’, so maybe a better deal is available.
Højlund has made 49 appearances this season, scoring ten goals. He’s contracted to the Red Devils until June 2028.
