Ahead of Arsenal’s match against Sporting in the Europa League, Gunners midfielder Fabio Silva held a press conference and spoke to Portuguese journalists about his first season in London, and Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva.
The midfielder, who joined the English side on a €35m transfer from Porto last summer, claimed he found some difficulties in the Premier League at first, but is already getting well adapted to it.
“I arrived here injured. It’s always difficult for any player, always taking a step back. I improved a lot, I worked a lot and I think it’s a matter of time,” said Fabio Vieira (via O Jogo).
“He’s an extraordinary player, I know him very well. I think we are similar players, with similar qualities. Of course I admire him.”
Arsenal and Sporting drew 2-2 in Lisbon and each club only need a simple win to get a place in the quarter-finals. The Portuguese press continue to see Mikel Arteta’s side as the favourites, but have been very confident that the Lions could come up with a surprising result at the Emirates Stadium.
Prior to the international break, the Gunners still have one more challenge ahead, as they face Crystal Palace on Sunday and look to have a couple of weeks resting comfortable on top of the Premier League table, with Manchester City behind them.
