Queens Park Rangers youngster Heverton Santos has insisted he simply couldn’t turn down the chance to join Vitória de Guimarães this month.
A Bola cover comments from the right-back today in which he insists he could refuse the offer to head to Portugal.
The 23-year-old completed a move to the Portuguese side yesterday, with multiple reports detailing the deal with QPR for him.
Wednesday’s edition of A Bola reported that he was joining on loan with an option for them to buy him in the summer. He was being signed as a replacement for Alberto Costa, who has joined Juventus.
Record reported the same and stated that the purchase option was set at €2m, while O Jogo stated that everything was done and Vitória de Guimarães simply had to announce the deal for the QPR man.
That has now been done, and it seems the right back, who joined the Championship side on a free transfer in the summer but has barely featured so far this season, managing less than 500 minutes in total, is more than excited to get back to Portugal and get things back on track.
“When the invitation came, I just thought about leaving straight away,” he said.
“This was, in fact, an old relationship and, thank God, the change happened at the right time. On the other hand, I wanted to return to Portugal. It wasn’t in the plans to return immediately, but I couldn’t refuse an invitation from Vitória.”
“I give everything for the team I represent, and it will be no different here. This is my image. I am an athletic player, with a lot of physical ability. I like to get involved in the attack and I’m also strong in defensive duels.”
