Arsenal forward Nicolas Pépé is almost nailed on to return to the Emirates this summer after his loan spell with Nice comes to an end.

That’s according to L’Equipe, who say the player is ‘heading for the exit’ once his loan expires at the French side.

The Ivory Coast forward has been on loan with the Ligue 1 side since the summer after it was made clear he was not a part of Mikel Arteta’s plans at Arsenal this season.

He’s been a regular for them and managed six goals and one assists in 19 league games, but the loan deal does not include a purchase option and he will be returning to the Emirates once it ends.

It seems he has failed to impress enough for the club to want to invest in him, despite them having €65m available to recruit and improve Didier Digard’s squad.

What happens next remains to be seen, with it unlikely he has any future at Arsenal given his struggles there.

What is likely is that if he ends up leaving Arsenal permanently, they are unlikely to get anywhere near the €80m they paid to sign him from Lille in 2019.
