Denmark coach Brian Riemer has admitted he’s somewhat shortchanged Manchester United’s Patrick Dorgu up to this point.

Dorgu is set to start for Denmark this evening as current first choice left-back Joakim Mæhle is out. The Manchester United man has played a back-up role to him on international duty up to now.
But will now get his chance to impress against both Belarus and Scotland in World Cup qualifying. He’s only made 10 appearances for the national team so far, most as a substitute.
He started against Portugal back in March when Mæhle was at home with his pregnant wife. Other than that, he’s only started against Lithuania and Belarus this year.
That is because Riemer appears to prefer the more experience Mæhle over the Manchester United at this moment in time. He accepts that Dorgu’s lack of minutes is his fault entirely and is hoping he can put doubt in his mind with the chance he’s been given in this international break.
“Now Dorgu will get the chance,” he said.
“He still has areas for development, both he and we know that, but he is also still young.
“He’s is completely ready to play these international matches, because he plays matches almost every week for Manchester United, where he meets the best players in the world.
“He has to go in and show that he can translate the promising moves into some good performances for the national team, and I am looking forward to seeing that.
“No one doubts Patrick Dorgu’s qualities. He has deserved more than I have given him, if I am to be completely honest.
“Based on his merits, he could well have been given more playing time by me. Hopefully Patrick does well in the upcoming games, so I have even more doubts in the future.”
