Celtic and Brendan Rodgers are set to welcome Barcelona’s Álex Valle, according to claims from the Catalan media.
The 20-year-old graduated from the La Liga side’s academy but hasn’t yet made his debut for the first team.
Barca have sent him out on loan to lower division sides FC Andorra and Levante UD in the last 18 months. The left-back’s immediate future would be at Celtic.
That’s according to Monday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo, which claims the fullback and La Liga side have agreed to renew his deal until 2026. He’s subsequently ‘going on loan to Celtic’.
Brendan Rodgers’ side will take care of his full wages of €1.5m per year. Mundo aren’t clear whether Celtic will have a buying option as part of the deal.
Barcelona sources have told Mundo that they value him, indicating that they would like to have control over his future.
Sport also back up Mundo’s claim that the Spaniard ‘leaves on loan to Celtic’. They add the Scottish champions will take care of his full wages and offer regular minutes this season.
The Spaniard has a €30m clause, which will drop to €3m, if the Blaugrana fail to register him before August 1st. The clause won’t be exercised and Barca will extend Valle’s deal until 2026, before sending him out on loan to Celtic.
