Southampton goalkeeper Mateusz Lis seems to be living a fine moment in Turkey.
Back in the last summer, the Saints chose to loan him out to Göztepe, who play in the second division in their country.
As Yeni Asir today shares a story about the Turkish side’s form, they highlight how well Lis has been doing lately.
The outlet writes that the Southampton loanee became a ‘giant’ in Goztepe’s defence, and ‘one of the main architects’ of their recent success.
It’s highlighted that the goalkeeper ‘gave life to his team’ when recently saving a penalty and is now breaking records with his stats. So far, he conceded eight goals and kept 10 clean sheets in 15 appearances.
Lis was signed by Southampton back in 2022, when brought from Altay SK.
The Saints didn’t really need him, and that’s why he spent his first year on loan at Troyes, and now went to Göztepe.
It’s undoubtedly great news that he’s doing so well in Turkey, as that may mean he could get a chance at St. Mary’s in the future, or even be worth some money for a potential sale.
