Everton will be part of a bigger whole with Roma when the Friedkins take over, and not become the new focus for the American group.
That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, who say the Friedkins are continuing to insist that ‘Everton is part of a group logic’.
The newspaper explains that with the takeover at Goodison Park seemingly in the final stages and potentially set to be completed before the end of the year, Friedkin and co are working to ensure that the message is clear.
There had been some fear, particularly among the Roma fanbase, who have been openly protesting against the Friedkins for months, that once Everton have been bought, they would become a second thought.
The Friedkins have always insisted that would not be the case and they are instead building a football network, and Corriere say that continues to be the line they are pushing.
They report that the Americans have told new manager Claudio Ranieri that they have ‘exclusive interest’ in Roma and that the purchase of Everton ‘is part of a group logic’.
The fact that the purchase is being done by the group and not Friedkin himself, say the newspaper, is a clear indication of this and demonstrates his ‘strong interest’ in football and Roma in particular.
Thus, Everton can enjoy some new ties in future, perhaps as early as the January transfer window when Friedkin and co hope to spend to try and get Roma back on track.
