Earlier this week, we relayed news from Spain that Aston Villa are insisting on signing Villarreal star Pau Torres in the summer window.
Unai Emery knows the defender well from his time at the La Liga side and wants to reunite with him at Villa Park.
Sport have a report on Emery’s ‘obsession with La Liga’, where they talk about Aston Villa’s interest in Torres.
The Spain international has a year left on a deal that includes a €65m release clause. The report adds he’s ‘increasingly receptive to packing his bags’ in this window.
It’s claimed the 26-year-old has a firm offer ‘on the table’ from Aston Villa. Emery’s side are in contact with his entourage but Sport say these talks ‘are not advanced’ yet.
Bayern have also contacted Torres’ agent but haven’t taken any further steps. Unless they were to make an offer, the report states his future seems to be at Aston Villa. The Yellow Submarine are hoping to earn close to €65m from his sale in this window.
Meanwhile, Villarreal manager Quique Setién has told ElDesmarque that he’s aware of the recent reports linking the player to other clubs.
“I read the press and maybe I know something else but until things are finished speculating is very easy,” he said.
