Royal Antwerp youngster Arthur Vermeeren has insisted he is uninterested in a move to Manchester United for now, with those rumours coming “faster than expected”.
Vermeeren was only handed his debut in the Jupiler Pro League back in October but has been a regular since, making 14 appearances so far and featuring in 43% of the available minutes.
He’s been earning rave reviews, with many predicting a bright future for the 18-year-old given what they have seen so far.
It’s already seen Vermeeren linked with a move away from the club, with reports in England claiming that Manchester United are keeping an eye on his performances in Belgium.
They have a history of scooping up talent from around Europe and are believed to be following Vermeeren closely, with Manchester United’s scouts impressed by his rapid development thus far.
The midfielder is more than aware of their interest but insists he’s not looking to Old Trafford just yet, with the rumours arriving much sooner than he had expected.
“Everything went faster than expected,” he told Het Laatste Nieuws.
“That’s only positive. At the same time, not much has changed in my life. I play with the first team at the weekend, but otherwise… I still go to school outside of football and I’m at home stayed myself.
“I keep my feet on the ground and that’s the most important thing.
“I’m not at all concerned with those kinds of rumours. I also realise that I can’t sit anywhere better at the moment than at Antwerp.
“There is a lot of mutual trust, and I can continue to grow here. Why would I want to leave already?”
