In the past few weeks, Everton’s clause to sign Carlos Alcaraz permanently from Flamengo has got a lot of attention in Brazil.
The clause stands at £15m right now and more information has now emerged about some conditions that the midfielder is struggling to meet at Goodison Park.
Ge Globo have reported that initially, Flamengo were confident that they will be selling the Argentine permanently but things are changing.
This is because the clause states that Alcaraz needs to complete nine games as a starter to be bought for £15m by Everton. So far, he has started only four games and with only five games remaining in the Premier League season, the idea of the clause being triggered seems like a distant idea.
As a result, the Toffees would like to negotiate for a lower amount and Flamengo will be open to a sale for the right terms.
So far, Everton have not made contact for this possibility, with other English clubs also said to be interested in Alcaraz.
Flamengo are keen on selling the player, but they have not expressed any desire to lower their asking price yet.
That could take some effort from Everton, who are still interested in keeping the 22-year-old beyond this season.
