Everton made efforts to sign Udinese’s Beto towards the end of the winter market.
The Toffees saw an important offer for the striker rejected by the Serie A side and this was confirmed by their manager, Andrea Sottil, earlier this month.
Mondo Udinese state Everton did everything they could to secure his services. The Pozzo family, who own the Italian club, stressed they had no intention to sell the 25-year-old in January.
Beto has seven goals and two assists in all competitions this season and that includes a goal and an assist since the World Cup. His performances have not been convincing in recent times and Udinese hope the frontman can regain the best form in the coming months.
If Everton were to make a bid worth around €25-30m after this season, Udinese would certainly not be able to say no to that since they would have time to find the player’s replacement.
Everton may face competition from Napoli after Udinese sporting director Pierpaolo Marino opened the door for the Naples club to sign Beto.
“Beto or [Lazar] Samardžić at Napoli? They are prospective players and would suit Napoli. Important offers have already arrived from major European clubs,” Marino told Radio Kiss Kiss, relayed by CalcioNapoli24.
“Beto for [his] characteristics could be for post Osimhen. He’s a young striker who can still improve a lot and it would be an operation similar to the ones Giuntoli did this [2022] summer.”
