Everton winger Arnaut Danjuma was the ‘priority’ signing for French side Lyon this month, but a deal has proven impossible so they’re now focusing on Said Benrahma.
That’s according to RMC Sport and journalist Fabrice Hawkins, who both explain how Danjuma was the main target for the Ligue 1 side.
RMC report that unless the situation changes, Benrahma should join Lyon before the end of the transfer window on Thursday, with an agreement already in place over a deal.
However, everything is yet to be completed on that front because there is not an agreement between Lyon and the player.
That’s because Benrahma knows he was not the priority for Lyon’s sports management, who had leaned more towards getting Danjuma out of Everton.
They were focused on that deal, with Fabrice Hawkins saying the same and insisting the Dutchman was the priority for most of this window.
However, a deal for him has not come to fruition as it seems Everton have not sanctioned a departure for the loanee without first finding a replacement for him in Sean Dyche’s squad.
Thus, Lyon have turned their attention to Benrahma, but now he’s less than impressed and is yet to agree things with the French side.
