On Thursday, Pedro Porro made his first EFL Cup appearance of this season in Tottenham Hotspur’s 4-3 win over Manchester United.
After the tie, the right-back had a chat with Portugal’s Sport TV and O Jogo have relayed his comments.
The Spain international was honest in admitting that he’s much happier now than he was before at Tottenham.
Spurs signed the 25-year-old from Sporting in January 2023 when Antonio Conte was in charge at the north London club. He made seven appearances under the Italian, and was mainly deployed as a right wing-back.
Ange Postecoglou arrived at Tottenham in the summer of 2023 and moved Porro to the right-back slot. The player has impressed under the former Celtic manager’s orders, and it helped the fullback regain his place in the national team earlier this season.
When asked about his Tottenham adventure so far, he said: “It’s very good for me, others don’t think so. I feel happier than when I arrived and that shows on the pitch.”
The Spaniard spent over three at Sporting before joining Spurs and joined the Portuguese club when Ruben Amorim was in charge. The manager left the Lions for the Red Devils last month.
The Tottenham fullback came up against Amorim yesterday and on meeting his former manager, Porro explained: “He was part of my career, I spent three years with him. I’m happy for him because he deserves a lot of good things.”
