Arsenal and Liverpool are keen on Eintracht Frankfurt youngster Hugo Larsson, as his side eye an ambitious €80m deal.
That’s according to SportBILD, who cover the 19-year-old today and how both Arsenal and Liverpool could afford such a deal.
They explain that the plan was for Larsson to develop slowly at the German side, taking his time to settle in and establish himself.
Instead, he has been indispensable in Eintracht’s midfield since the start of the season and there is a growing belief, he could soon be set for a major transfer away.
Indeed, they believe that the midfielder could bring in an amount similar to Randal Kolo Muani, who left for PSG in the summer in a €95m deal.
Any move for Larsson would not be as much as that but in the €80m range, with Eintracht in no mood to give up Larsson given he has a contract until 2028 and it doesn’t contain a release clause.
There is interest from the Premier League, though, with Arsenal and Liverpool both watching the player and seen as clubs that ‘can afford it’, it being his €80m asking price.
That’s debatable to say the least, particularly with Premier League sides desperately working to avoid PSR breaches, never mind the fact Larsson is arguably not even worth half that price at this point in his career.
