Everton have scored 16 goals from 21 league games this season, and were keen on signing a forward in the winter market.
The Toffees finished the January window without making any new additions to their squad.
Everton had identified Udinese’s Beto as one of their targets and even made an offer to secure his services. This was confirmed by the Serie A side’s manager, Andrea Sottil, earlier this month.
Udinese head of scouting, Andrea Carnevale, explained why his side turned down the offer for the 25-year-old in January.
“We turned down a very important offer for Beto from a Premier League team. We thought it would be better to keep him in Udine for six months,” he told Sportitalia.
Two days ago, Mondo Udinese reported Everton are ready to make a new attempt to sign the player after this season. It was also stated the Serie A side would need at least €25m to sanction his sale.
Sean Dyche’s side may be pleased to know that Carnevale has admitted it is possible for Beto to leave Udinese in the summer.
“Then maybe at the end of the season he will have the opportunity to go and play for a big team.”
