Eintracht Frankfurt are still assuming that Jesper Lindstrøm will leave the club this summer, with several clubs and ‘especially Newcastle’ in the mix.
That’s according to Frankfurter Rundschau, who say the Magpies are still eyeing up a potential deal for the forward this summer.
The newspaper explains that Frankfurt are currently lining up sales to bring down a bloated squad and help balance the books.
Lindstrøm is one of their more saleable assets and has long been linked with a move to the Premier League, where several teams have been credited with interest.
Newcastle are one of them as they strengthen their squad for a season in the Champions League, first being linked back in April before a report earlier this month stated that it was being assumed in Germany that a bid was incoming.
Frankfurter Rundschau follow that up, explaining that Frankfurt’s sporting management ‘still assumes’ that Lindstrøm will leave the club this summer.
Juventus, Arsenal and ‘especially Newcastle’ are all interested in the Danish winger, who would demand a fee of €30-35m.
Whether that’s a figure the Magpies would pay, particularly with Eddie Howe recently insisting they need to sell before they can buy, remains to be seen.
Perhaps when they’ve sold some players, particularly Allan Saint-Maximin, they’ll then step up their interest in Lindstrøm.
