Burnley owner Alan Pace has already met with those in charge of Espanyol after he and his holding company, VSP, bought the Spanish club.
That’s according to Espanyol midfielder Pol Lozano, who has revealed the Burnley owner has also spoken to some members of the playing squad.
Pace and VSP are set to take charge of Espanyol in the near future, with Sport explaining that they will take full control once the final transactions with the RASTAR Group, the club’s previous ownership, are completed.
That will leave Pace with a majority ownership of the club, who he will add to his growing network of clubs alongside Burnley, where he is also majority shareholder.
Work is already underway to change Espanyol’s fortunes, with it reported last week that Pace plans to take up residency in Barcelona to oversee operations in the near future. A report earlier this month had the whole takeover at close to €200m and labelled as one of the most ambitious in Spanish football for some time.
And it seems the Burnley owner is already working on various matters, including meeting the club’s leadership and players, including Lozano.
“I have a good feeling; he’s coming from managing a club in the Premier League, which is a very prestigious league,” he said.
“I think the management is going to be good. He hasn’t spoken to the squad, but the captains spoke with him. We had a chat here in Torremirona, and he gave me a good feeling, honestly.
“It was a very short, fairly informal chat. He didn’t tell us anything out of the ordinary, just that if we needed anything, we should tell him directly. Later on, things will be introduced.”
