Aston Villa have Real Sociedad goalkeeper Álex Remiro in their shortlist for the summer.
On May 2nd, we relayed news that the Europa League winners are keen on signing him and the stopper’s clause dropped from €50m to €12m.
Later that month, Sport Witness covered claims from Spain that he’s aware Aston Villa want to sign him. The La Liga side are willing to sell him for €8-10m.
Emiliano Martínez has been No.1 at Villa Park for several years, however, he could leave this summer.
Earlier this week, the Italian media reported the Argentina international reaching an agreement with Juventus. The Villans won’t block his exit as long as there’s a convincing offer.

The uncertainty around Emiliano Martínez’s future has seen the English club rekindle their interest in Álex Remiro. That’s according to AS, who report the Real Sociedad man is Unai Emery’s favourite target.
Last summer, Aston Villa identified the 31-year-old as the top target as Martínez came close to leaving. The latter stayed and the Villans decided not to advance for Remiro.
Faced with the World Cup winner’s potential exit, Emery’s interest in his compatriot is still ‘strong’. AS state the Spaniard, who didn’t make it to the World Cup, is facing a crucial window.
Estadio Deportivo claim several unnamed clubs are looking at La Real goalkeeper and the Villans are one of them.
The possibility of Martínez moving to Juventus prompts his current club to look at Remiro.
His contract expires in 2027 and he’s hoping to receive offers. The La Liga side are also open to selling him this summer and are demanding €8-10m.
This would certainly please Aston Villa, who are ‘very interested in signing’ the former Athletic man. There could be developments if and when Martínez’s move to Juve gains more traction.
