Leeds United have secured promotion to the Premier League and finished the season on a high by winning the Championship.

Leeds have to restructure their squad for next season and there’s still no clarity on Junior Firpo’s future at Elland Road.

The left-back’s contract expires in June and it’s unclear whether he will continue with the Whites.

Wednesday’s edition of Sport looks at the 28-year-old and Marc Cucurella, players who were previously at Barcelona and who have won fans over in England. Leeds took the Dominican Republic international from the Catalan club in 2021.

Alejandro Balde is the first choice left-back at the Camp Nou. Despite this, the newspaper says Junior Firpo and the Chelsea player would be perfect under Hansi Flick at the Camp Nou.

This is just the suggestion from Sport and not given that Barca are planning any move for either of them.

Junior impressed this season, managing four goals and 10 assists, and has been one of the standout players for Daniel Farke’s side.

According to the report, Leeds are keen on extending his stay while his former club, Real Betis, are ‘pushing for him to return home’.

He hasn’t agreed anything either with Leeds United or Real Betis yet. Time is running out for the English club, who have to act fast if they want to retain Junior Firpo.
