Arsenal are in pole position in the developing grid of racers for Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee, with Edu working to secure the striker for Mikel Arteta.
That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who say that Arsenal are the ‘dangerous and rich’ third wheel for Zirkzee, who is also being courted by Juventus and AC Milan.
The newspaper explains that Milan took off first in the race for the striker, but Juventus have responded to that with a strong comeback, while Arsenal have done similar.
The whole thing is turning into something of a Grand Prix, aided by Zirkzee’s performances, which have been superb for Bologna this season and continue to be so, adding value and interest to his name in the process.
First conversations are being held and after the initial stage, Arsenal are out in front ready to fight for first place.
The current course seems to be guiding everyone to a valuation of €50-60m plus bonuses for the Dutchman, something Bologna, and indeed Bayern Munich, who still have a percentage on any sale, are very happy about.
Zirkzee, for his part, may need some convincing to move to Arsenal as he’s tempted to join Juventus. Well, he is not indifferent to their proposal even if Dusan Vlahovic remains.
Arsenal still have work to do then but they’re out in front leading the race, hoping to beat the competition to a podium finish.
