Sunderland’s Timothée Pembélé will join Le Havre on a loan deal in the ‘coming hours’.
That’s according to L’Equipe, who state the 21-year-old will arrive in France today to carry out medical tests with the Ligue 1 side.
This indicates Le Havre have a deal in place with Sunderland to sign the right-back on a temporary deal.
The Frenchman’s contract with the Black Cats lasts until 2028. The report hasn’t provided any details of the agreement between the two clubs.
Pembélé mainly operates as a right-back but can be used as a centre-back or on the left side of the defence. L’Equipe say his versatility has pleased Le Havre’s leaders.
As well as the fullback, his Sunderland teammate, Pierre Ekwah, is also making a switch to France.
On Thursday, Foot Mercato reported Ekwah will join Saint-Étienne on a loan deal with an option to buy set at €7m, and they have an agreement in principle with Sunderland.
According to Le Parisien journalist Marc Mechenoua, the 22-year-old midfielder arrived in France on Thursday evening. He will undergo medical tests on Friday morning and sign the contract with Saint-Étienne.
Sunderland’s French duo of Pembélé and Ekwah will return to their country on deadline day.
