In the summer, Napoli’s and West Ham’s transfer markets could end up being intertwined depending on a couple of things.
First, the Hammers would need to avoid relegation from the Premier League, as they currently sit 17th in the table after 26 games, having picked up just 24 points.
Should that happen, West Ham will then want to bolster their squad to ensure this doesn’t happen again, and that could start in midfield.
One of the players they desperately wanted last summer was Piotr Zielinski from Napoli, to the point where offers were made, but the Serie A side and the player weren’t overly interested.
The Pole has been a very important player this season, but there is talk that he could be one of the few to be sacrificed in the summer.
In fact, the Serie A side would take a transfer into account should ‘offers deemed appropriate’ arrive, which could be the opening both West Ham and David Moyes need.
Another situation that could work in the Hammers’ favour is Gianluca Scamacca, who isn’t having the best time at London Stadium, and should Victor Osimhen be sold, there will be a need for a new striker in the south of Italy.
Napoli have previously been linked with a move for the West Ham striker, and there could be a double deal somewhere in there.
What they won’t have to worry about is competition from Inter Milan, as Rai journalist Ciro Venerato, relayed by Inter-News, has stated ‘the player is too expensive for the Nerazzurri coffers’.
