Throughout June, Napoli’s interest in Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez received a lot of attention from the Italian sport media.
Antonio Conte’s side signed Lorenzo Lucca from Udinese last week, which looks to have ruled Napoli out, and the Reds player is now a potential target for Juventus.
La Stampa report on Nunez’s situation at Liverpool and state the Premier League champions have given the green light for the striker’s exit, at least in principle and if their demands are met.
As a result, intermediaries around the 26-year-old have offered the player to clubs around Europe, and Juventus are ‘particularly interested’ in the Uruguay international.
As things stand, Liverpool will only sell Nunez if they can earn €50-60m. It remains to be seen if the Old Lady can afford that but ‘discussions are underway’ with the forward’s entourage about a transfer.
Igor Tudor’s side are likely to offer an initial loan deal with an obligation to buy, and are initially focused on selling players.
Napoli’s move for Nunez had previously fallen through because of their inability to match Liverpool’s asking price and this feels like a crucial aspect of any deal involving the player.
