Feyenoord manager Arne Slot has refused to definitively say he’ll still be at the club next season amid links to Tottenham Hotspur.
The Dutch coach has been speaking at a press conference today ahead of his side’s clash with Sparta Rotterdam on Sunday, covered by 1908.nl.
Among the usual questions in a pre-match press conference he was asked about his future, which has been in question for much of this campaign.
Slot has been earning himself admirers around Europe for the work he’s done with Feyenoord this season, leading them to the top of the Eredivisie and six points clear of Ajax to boot.
That has already seen him linked with the Premier League, with Leeds United keen on his signature earlier this year when they were looking for a replacement for Jesse Marsch.
Tottenham have since seemingly added him to their list of targets as they look for the man to follow Antonio Conte after his departure last week.
Reports in the Netherlands have insisted that Slot is very much on their list of targets, with it even claimed that he would be ‘open’ to joining Tottenham if given the chance.
He’s now been asked questions on the subject of his future and refused to give a definitive answer on where he’ll be next season.
“I have no reason to assume I won’t be (here),” he is reported saying.
“But then you also have to give the cliché answer that it’s difficult to predict in football. I had also hoped last year that the whole team would stay, and we would continue with what we had.
“Two months later, we had lost 15 players, but I was still there then. I’m busy preparing the boys as well as possible for Sparta.
“The moment a club would become really topical for you, which you are also interested in, you might give it some thought at an unguarded moment.
“But that would never distract from the work I have to do here at Feyenoord. So I will have my full focus on how we have to play Sparta.”
