KV Oostende goalkeeper Liam Bossin has revealed he once wished he wouldn’t have to play for Nottingham Forest after being intimidated by the atmosphere.

The goalkeeper has been speaking to KW in Belgium regarding his career so far and the various places it has taken him.

He’s enjoyed a varied career in the game to date, starting at White Star in Belgium before moving to Anderlecht’s U21s. By 2015 he was in their first team squad but two years later had left on a free transfer to Nottingham Forest.

He failed to make a single appearance for Nottingham Forest during his time at the club, though, not in the first team or the youth sectors.

That saw him eventually leave on a free transfer in July 2019 and spend some time out of the game before joining Cork City and then FC Dordrecht.

He now finds himself playing for KV Oostende in the Belgian second flight, an experience he is enjoying far more than his time at Nottingham Forest, which, by his own account, was not a happy one.

“A big club. Those guys won the Champions League twice, hey, that’s more than Manchester City,” he said.

“Now, I was barely 21 years old, alone in a big city and only played in the U21s. I wasn’t physically ready for the big job.

“I was on the bench once, during the derby against Aston Villa. I was hoping I wouldn’t have to step in. That audience, that atmosphere: so intimidating.

“You simply felt the ground shake under your feet. Yes, it remains a beautiful experience, but it was a difficult period.”
