Last month, we covered claims made by Gazzetta dello Sport that Leeds United have joined West Ham United in chasing Nahitan Nández, who has a €36m release clause in his contract at Cagliari.
TuttoMercatoWeb has a short report on the Whites’ interest in the midfielder and their title states, ‘Leeds try for Nahitan Nández’.
It’s claimed the Premier League club are trying to snatch the 24-year-old away from Napoli.
TWM adds ‘contacts are in progress’, but there’s no clarity whether it’s between the two clubs or between Leeds and the Uruguay international.
Signing Nández is Marcelo Bielsa’s idea and the website adds ‘developments are expected’ in the coming days.
The South American’s asking price is set at €36m, and Cagliari sporting director Pierluigi Carta has already admitted his side will not be able to turn down a proposal for any of their players, if the offer is tempting.
“I don’t want to be a hypocrite, [but] if important offers arrive, you can’t refuse them. But the transfer market thrives on balance,” Carta was quoted as saying by TuttoMercatoWeb on Tuesday.
It remains to be seen whether or not Leeds will table a tempting offer for Nández.
