Feyenoord manager Arne Slot is “definitely on the list” at Tottenham to replace Antonio Conte following his departure this week.
That’s according to journalist Valentijn Driessen, relayed by Voetbal Primeur, who says the Dutch coach will be on the list of options being explored by Daniel Levy and co.
Conte departed Tottenham this week, with Spurs electing to end their relationship early after his outburst following the draw with Southampton.
They’ve placed his assistant Cristian Stellini in temporary charge until the end of the season, but it is unlikely he will be handed the job full-time.
Several big name managers, including Julian Nagelsmann, have already been linked to the position and Slot has also been brought into the mix.
He’s been doing impressive work with Feyenoord this season and earned himself plenty of suitors as a result and a report yesterday stated he would be a perfect fit for Tottenham and what they want in their manager.
It seems those in charge at Tottenham think so too, with Driessen insisting that he is on their list of candidates.
“I think Conte’s dismissal is very good news for Arne Slot, because I know he is on a list at Tottenham,” he said.
“He first wants to become champion with Feyenoord and go far in the Europa League, but he’s definitely on the list.
“That would be a great challenge for him. I think he is open to it, because he was also open to Leeds United. Otherwise he would have said ‘no’, because he submitted it to the Feyenoord management.
“If Tottenham want him, they can get him like that, they pay so much money… It’s nice that they’ve never won anything, because then you can be the first to win something.”
