The future of Maxime Gonalons is a growing topic in the Italian sport media.

Joining AS Roma last summer, the Frenchman may already be surplus to requirements and on Wednesday we covered claims from Italy that Crystal Palace were lining up a €10m offer for the 29 year old.

Since then there’s been more claims, and Corriere della Sera’s take sounds confident for Roy Hodgson’s chances.

In their Thursday edition the Italian newspaper state several Premier League clubs like the player but at the moment Crystal Palace have made the ‘most concrete offer’.

That bid is the €10m reported yesterday, plus a further €2m in bonus payments.

Gonalons, currently in the US on his club’s preseason tour, is said to be reflecting on the situation. It’s the same for his family and Roma, who would be considering replacing him with a big name signing.

Sevilla’s Steven Nzonzi once again gets a mention, and Porto’s Hector Herrera is another option.
