Tanguy Ndombele left Tottenham Hotspur, again on loan, during the last summer window.
This time he’d be getting a great opportunity at Napoli, although he hasn’t had the continuity and prominence that he’d have hoped for.
What the midfielder has benefitted from is the club charging towards the Serie A title and doing well in the Champions League, and it’s a good time to be fighting for a place at Napoli.
Speaking to SoFoot, relayed by Gianluca Di Marzio, Ndombele has explained he wanted to prove his worth at Tottenham, but Antonio Conte simply wasn’t prepared to give him a reasonable chance.
That direct message meant there was only one solution for Ndombele, finding a new club. His loan ends in the summer and there’s a chance he’ll again be looking for something new.
On his future, he said: “I don’t know what my future will be, many fans ask me to return to Tottenham but the clubs will decide and Napoli have an option to buy. I don’t mind being on loan here but sometimes I see footballers being treated more like commodities than people.”
That makes it sound like Ndombele wants to settle down long term somewhere, but it could be tricky finding the right destination. Clubs may be reluctant to commit to more than a season, and Tottenham are going to want a transfer fee.
