West Ham United’s Michail Antonio has been sidelined with a knee injury since November and he’s now joined by Lucas Paquetá in the treatment room.
Recent claims in the English media stated the Hammers fear the Brazilian could be out for two months and that has forced them to bring in an attacking player this month. It was also stated Sporting’s Marcus Edwards has been identified as one of the targets.
Friday’s edition of A Bola relays claims from England, and then gives their own take on how West Ham can take him away from the Lions in January.
The winger has enjoyed an impressive season so far, scoring six goals and registering six assists from 25 games.
It’s said the Sporting board aren’t willing to negotiate his transfer. They are ‘committed to fulfilling the promise’ made to their manager Rúben Amorim that Edwards, or any other key players, won’t be sold in the winter market unless a club matches the clause.
The attacker’s deal lasts until 2026 and has a €60m release clause. A Bola state that if David Moyes’ side want to sign the Englishman in January, the only way they can do it is by triggering his clause.
Edwards came through the ranks of Tottenham Hotspur’s academy, and Spurs are due a percentage of the transfer fee.
