After claims that Torino were trying their best to get Lucas Torreira and AS Roma were still considering the idea of a swap between the Uruguayan and Amadou Diawara, it’s Fiorentina’s turn to be the centre of attention when it comes to the Arsenal man.
Pushed to one side by Mikel Arteta, the midfielder looks set to leave the Emirates this summer, with a return to Italy the most likely option.
As explained above, there are three main clubs interested in him, but it’s the one based in Florence who seem set to make the first move.
That’s what Corriere dello Sport are reporting, explaining that Arsenal ‘know of the purple interest’ in their player, ‘even if the decisive lunge has not been made yet’.
However, it’s pointed out it ‘will be shortly’, hinting that Fiorentina could make their move in the coming days.
Over at Corriere Fiorentino, it’s made clear Torreira ‘remains the preferred name’ to bolster their midfield, and the ‘pressing continues’.
Someone has to make a move soon, and while Roma certainly have the ace up their sleeve in Diawara, that hasn’t taken off just yet.
It’s a window of opportunity for other clubs, and it seems Fiorentina could take advantage of it.
