Bayer Leverkusen are working on a move for Brentford goalkeeper Mark Flekken and have been for four weeks.

That’s according to Kicker, who report that Bayer Leverkusen have chosen the Brentford number one as their new first choice goalkeeper.

According to their information, Flekken is an ‘old acquaintance’ at Leverkusen and so the German club have been ‘intensively trying’ to sign him for more than four weeks.

They see him as an immediate reinforcement and their new number one, but an agreement has not yet been reached with Brentford over a transfer. It’s up for debate whether the Bees would want to sell the goalkeeper.

Reports elsewhere have suggested a €15m deal but given his current deal runs until 2027 and includes an option for another year, that has been deemed ‘questionable’. There’s also the fact Brentford would need to sign a replacement before sanctioning a move.

Thus, there is doubt about whether the transfer will be sanctioned, with plenty of obstacles in the way at this moment in time.

Leverkusen are trying to work something out with Brentford, though, and have been doing so for over four weeks. How many more are needed, remains to be seen.
