Fluminense are planning to accelerate efforts to sign striker Carlos Vinícius from Fulham, so they can have him for the Club World Cup.
That’s according to Bolavip, who report that Fluminense president Mário Bittencourt is pushing ahead with plans to get the Fulham striker.
The Brazilian club want three or four reinforcements for the start of the Club World Cup in June, and the biggest shortage is in the middle of the attack. They want to add two players, including a striker, and the name that interests them is Fulham’s Carlos Vinícius.
He is set to come to the end of his contract with Fulham, although Marco Silva’s side have an option to extend it by another year. Whether they do so remains to be seen.
There is competition for his signature from clubs in Europe and Brazil and as such, Fluminense want to accelerate their investigations for the player in the coming weeks.
Carlos Vinícius has already signalled he would be open to a return to Brazil and Fluminense are considering offering a three-year deal. They’re yet to consider what wages they would offer. Once they have, they’d make their offer in the June transfer window opened especially for teams competing in the Club World Cup.
Whether they need to make an offer to Fulham remains to be seen, with them yet to signal their intentions over that option they have. If they decide to take it up and extend Carlos Vinícius by another year, it may complicate Fluminense’s plans.
